The colors of the jersey have been picked with respect to the lengthy, complex history of the Black community in Eugene. The cap is designed in the spirit of caps from the Negro League Era. Come see The Eugene Nine take the field for the first time in 2025.
Named for the number Jackie Robinson wore during his only season playing in Minor League Baseball with the Triple-A Montreal Royals in 1946, The Nine connects the Eugene Emeralds’ existing, Black-community focused development efforts with new national programming and future special events in a coordinated and centralized campaign.
